Determining a final budget for your video depends on a number of variables including complexity of the creative approach, number of shooting days, size of crew and equipment package, turnaround time, and a host of other cost-affecting factors. So there are several different ways to attack a project, but we can easily design a specific approach around a pre-determined budget, if preferred. Worth noting – price shopping for video is not the same as buying an automobile or appliance. Every producer / production company uses different pricing structures and implements various levels of personnel and equipment so ‘video shopping’ truly can be a ‘you get what you pay for’ endeavor. We’ve produced projects from $5,000 to $500,000 and everything in between.

While some production companies will employ this measure, we do not quote video prices ‘per finished minute’. Simply put, there are too many variables involved in a video budget to do this responsibly, in our opinion. We have produced :30 second videos for six-figures, and delivered 8-minute videos for $10,000. The only common denominator is ‘production value’, or how good the video looks and works. We pride ourselves in providing our clients tremendous production value for the dollar, whatever the budget.

Determining timelines for your video production is affected by a number of logistical and creative factors. Sometimes, getting access to a particular location, or to personnel who are being featured in the video will affect your timeline. Other times, the creation of special effects, specific editorial sequences or accessing and licensing stock footage will dictate timelines. Travel becomes another factor. There’s really no safe template to follow as each project brings it’s own set of unique variables. But in general, we like to allow for 6-8 weeks to complete a project. Of course, we’ve turned around videos in much shorter (and much longer) timelines depending on the situation.

There are 3 primary phases to making a video: pre-production, production and post-production. At the Pre-Production phase, we begin with a thorough audit / interview session to best understand the client’s audience, goals, competitive advantage, strengths and weaknesses, how the video will be shown and a host of other variables. This discovery informs the writing and approach. Casting, location scouting, scheduling crew and prepping gear, if necessary, all also occur during pre-production. The Production phase is when the original shooting, if any, will occur. Once production is completed, or immediately after pre-pro, if no original production is required, is the Post-Production phase. This is when all editorial, animation/effects, graphics, music and narration (if necessary) are completed. When post-production is done, so is the video!

1. There is no ‘typical’ shoot day, as no two are ever alike. But a shoot schedule for a corporate video shot at the client’s location and featuring testimonials may look something like this:

7:00a – Crew call time at Braun offices; load and leave

8:00a-9:30a – Crew arrives at client location; unloads and sets up

9:30a-10:15a – Shoot first interview

10:15a-11:00a – Shoot second interview

11:00a-12:00p – Shoot b-roll/cover footage

12:00p-1:00p – Lunch

1:00-2:00p – Shoot b-roll/cover footage

2:00p-2:30p – Set up for new interview look

2:30p-3:30p – Shoot third interview (primary interview, a little longer)

3:30p-4:15p – Shoot fourth interview

4:15p-5:00p – Wrap; break down gear; dump, backup and inventory footage

5:00p-5:30p – Load and leave; head back to Braun offices

Of course many production days look nothing like this – a commercial shoot, dramatic re-enactments or educational/training program, for instance. We can give you a better sense of what your shoot days might look like once we know a bit about your project.

Hardly ever. We have qualified production crews located literally all over the world and have shot and produced on 5 continents and in over 15 languages. Rarely is location a difficult hurdle to clear and many times we can address production needs without even having to travel crew – which we are also happy to do when conditions warrant and budgets allow.

Our in-house editorial platforms are compatible with just about any source material you can provide and our editors and graphic artists can add commercial quality polish to just about any footage you can provide. Of course. While we are certainly capable of ‘script-to-screen’ production, we frequently perform just one facet or another of the production process for clients who don’t require full service production. We can provide anything from a 2-person ENG (news style) crew to a location and commercial crew of dozens, fully equipped, of course. Our personnel, and affiliate crews world-wide are vastly experienced and work only with state of the art broadcast quality equipment, whatever the format.
